When you feel there is more to do than you have time for, you can feel overwhelmed and your mind races towards the finish line. You don't see it, but your energy system becomes fragmented, split and dispersed in your state of stress. If you keep yourself in this state for too long, you become run down and you may even get sick or injured.
Sickness is our sign that we need to slow down and rest. It often means our thoughts are not in congruence with our inner wisdom. When you slow down, you are able to tune into the rhythm of your heart. When you are connected to your heart you are connected to your intuition; that is your higher wisdom, which is beyond the mind.
It feels counterintuitive to slow down when there are deadlines and things to get done, but it's exactly what you need to do. As you slow down, breathe and tune into your heart, you create space for your actions to be streamlined into accomplishing what you need. You find there are certain things that are unnecessary to your overall purpose. You may even receive help from others that you did not anticipate. You distill time by pairing down what is most needed. You follow that subtle, quiet voice that gently guides you easily and effortlessly in the right direction.
Now you will find peace begins to replace the overwhelm. Your actions become joyful instead of dreadful. You arrive to wherever you are going or whatever you need to get done, energized and joyful. Next time you feel overwhelmed take time to slow down and trust this strategy will trump your impulse to race time.
